Every day, Utah healthcare professionals have to make important healthcare decisions for patients without access to past or current medical information. Information about medications, allergies, test results, x-rays, and medical conditions could increase the accuracy of diagnoses, the quality of care and eliminate the cost and frustration of duplicate tests.
The Clinical Health Information Exchange or cHIE, pronounced chee, is Utah's electronic health information exchange. The cHIE benefits the whole community by improving quality of care and lowering costs.
The cHIE provides a safe, secure place for patients to give their healthcare professionals access to and permission to share their health information. With patient consent, healthcare professionals have instant access to their patients' health information including medications, allergies, immunizations, lab test results, imaging reports, and other aspects of their medical history - so everyone is on the same page. With access to a patients' whole health story, healthcare professionals can make the best possible decisions for quality treatment and patients get the best care.
CHIE and VA partnering together.
